Rehab vs Home
A rehab facility is supposed to be temporary. People go to rehab for treatment, to get better if they cannot get better at home itself. A rehab is also where socially misfit people are kept till they overcome their ailments or addictions. Yet, rehab doesn't guarantee total recovery. If a person is too challenging for a rehab and becomes an unsolvable case then that person might even be dismissed from rehab citing incomprehensible reasons.
Home is undoubtedly permanent.
Home is where people help each other, forgive each other, live peacefully and happily together and not throw garbage at each other. Home is where every member is treated equally with love; where family members do not single out a member and favor another or aren't selective or biased. Home rules applies equally to every member. And yet, home isn't always perfect.
Despite it's imperfections, home works when differences are sorted out unbiasedly and by shedding egos while the head of the family disciplines everyone without favoritism and is immune to buttering and isn't fooled by someone playing the victim card. The responsible head of the family thus earns the respect of everyone. And, yet this doesn't always happen.
Then for maintaining the peace at home, it becomes imperative for the more mature family members to adjust, ignore, let go distasteful episodes and move on. That doesn't mean that everything is fine or every wrong has become right. Home is like a China ware, which when cracked can be glued back and reused, but the fine lines of cracks are still visible on close observation. Home is to be handled with care like a China ware.
The bonding, tolerance and spirit of home is absent in a rehab. Despite its shortcomings home is still a place to be in. A rehab can never be a home.
A home isn't always a paradise. Yet, it is a place to be in.
