you speak them
and I feel every bit of it
seeping through my skin
and flowing into my veins,
first like a waterfall it gushes
into me and then, like a calm
river, it soothes me.
as we sip it, I feel the warmth
of your words magnified and
the coldness of my body
You stop speaking
and take another sip of your coffee,
and the wait seems like a lifetime.
they spoke more than your mouth,
the way they lightened up when you
talked about the good things,
the way they were saddened when
bad things happened.
the way they aligned with mine and
at some point, I felt your
words went out of my mind, because
all I did was stare into your eyes.
about stars and galaxies
and travel stories,
about life and love
and everything between,
about how serious things turn out
and then acting silly.
Living an adult life but having the
heart of a kid.
Warm coffee and your words,
always complemented each other.
