WILL JESUS RETURN TO EARTH?
In our last sermon we understood that Christ is no longer here on earth with us but has ascended to the Father and has given us the Holy Spirit to direct His affairs here on earth.
The question before us this morning is a critical one and we will allow the Holy Spirit to inspire us with the answer through His revealed word in the Scriptures.
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly, toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner, as ye have seen him go into heaven. (Acts 1:9-11|KJV-
With the above Scripture, Jesus will return to the earth in the same manner He ascended into heaven, St. Paul also confirmed this thus:
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,..: (1 Thessalonians 4:16a|KJV
Jesus Christ will return to earth but not as a lamb of God but as the ruler of God’s creation and a righteous judge. St. John in a revelation told us how that day will look like:
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. (Revelation 1:7|KJV
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. … He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. (Revelation 22:12,20|KJV-
What are your expectations? Are you living in preparation of His coming or are you still seeing it as a myth and baseless argument? Whatever be your belief on this subject matter, the undeniable truth is that Christ will come back to earth and this time not to die on the cross a second time but to reward all men in accordance with their works.
What is your work? Are you a worker of righteousness or a worker of inequity? Time alone will reveal but it’s my prayer that the Lord find us worthy of His Kingdom at His second coming. Amen.
