I Am Grateful
Gratitude, how deeply the stream runs in my veins, opening up to a volume, immense as the universe.
Its essence can never be conveyed by any word, living or dead, written or oral.
No scale made by man can ever measure its weight. It lodges in the innermost chambers of my heart, where its fragrance creates quantum energy for my soul. To keep me going on crowded or lonely roads where supplies are scarce or non existent.
To those who were solicited; To those who gave of themselves voluntarily; To those who heard by chance and were moved to reach out and touch with a benevolent hand;
To those who had nothing but offered comforting words; To those who harvested my tears and kept them away in bottlegourds; Even to those who sneered and hardened my resolve to see the end of the scorched highway.
May the wind bring to your doorsteps the goodness you spread upstream.
It may not be over yet, but I hear the voices of domestic animals; and I know a habitat of hope must be close by.
There I will meet you and we shall break kola nuts and share fresh palm wine. There I will begin the great healing, and the composition of a song of gratitude; meant only for a heavenly orchestra to perform; For all those on Mother Earth and those yearning to come in.
Je Suis Reconnaissant.
I Am Grateful.
