The Dragon and the Phoenix
When the Dragon found the Phoenix,
She was a sorry sight.
In desperate need of fire,
She’d been searching day and night.
Now hungry and exhausted,
She lay in the Dragon’s arms.
He listened as she told her tale,
His face filled with alarm.
They had been friends for many years,
But the Phoenix did not know,
That the Dragon loved her very much,
Yet he knew she had to go.
Oh no dear Dragon, do not fear,
In the fire I am born anew,
I can see the love there in your eyes,
Please know, I love you too.
The Dragons heart was fit to burst
So happy, yet so sad.
When he lit the fire and watched the flame
Consume the love had.
A silent tear fell from his eye
As he walked into the night.
Something shone behind him,
He turned back towards the light.
Rising from the ashes
Was the Phoenix he adored,
She stepped into his waiting arms,
Her life once more, restored.
