"Hey." He called out to her as she tidied her locker but, she didn't look his way.
She was so mysterious and beautiful. He wondered why she'd be alone in the first place and why she wouldn't speak to anyone.
"You're really pretty, what's your name?" He sat beside her in class, she didn't even notice him.
"Want any help with your books?" She didn't notice him beside her. Her head was held straight as she walked away.
After a long, unpleasing week he got upset.
"WHY DO YOU IGNORE ME? WHY DO YOU ACT AS IF YOU'RE SO IMPORTANT THAT YOU CAN'T SPEAK TO ME?" He yelled this right in her face during gym class.
All she could do was look at him in complete confusion. She didn't know what the problem was but she knew he was upset. He'd actually been the guy she's been crushing on the very first time she saw him.
That evening she wrote a note and slid it through the narrow hole of his locker.
After football practice he came by to grab his school bag when the note fell out. It read...
"Hi, I'm August. Why are you mad at me? I've done nothing to you. I don't know what you're problem is, Jake. You're probably wondering why I didn't answer you right? I'm sorry. I'm deaf."
He crumbled the note in his fist and banged his head on his locker. He felt disappointed in himself. She wasn't ignoring him. He was even surprised that she knew his locker, moreover, his name!
He stormed out of the empty halls with intentions of finding August.
"I've gotta find her."
