LITTLE BIRD CHAPTER ONE
It was getting late. He had just hung up with Totorios lieutenant and was told to go to the drop off spot and pick up an envelope then bring pick up the bosses wife and to go to Totorios apartment building. He never went to the bosses apartment building, not this one. He hung up the phone after hearing men would meet him in the parking lot.
He looked through the folders. It had almost everything! It was missing one thing though. The possibility of death on the table, and he knew what it entailed. Given everything the past seven years, and especially the last six months, he couldn't accept anything less. He made a phone call from a burner phone.
“Sam, it's me. I need you to listen to me carefully.” He said.
“No, no! The fact you calling me from a burner leads me to believe where this conversation is going. Given everything you just told me last night, I ain't ruining what we got now! Oh, no.”
“It's too late the fuse has already been lit. This was the hardest of them all. I've always been highly regarded because I was raised by a powerful man that taught me important things in life. Not this though. I was raised opposite of the law, and it was always ingrained in me to think like a criminal. My primal instincts always were dangerous.”
“Are you going to listen? That's what's made me thrive in what I do. But, she undid everything.”
“Listen man, stop talking! Stay where you are I'll come and get you! Where you at?” Sam asked.
“You can't get to where I am. I'm at the point of no return. I know you're divorced, but you remember what it was like, don't you?”
“Oh, no, you're speaking crazy! My ex, that devilwomen! You done lost your mind white man!” Sam said.
“Your lying! She once made you feel like you were the most important thing in this world. Like you can make a difference and leave an imprint in this world. The love you two had was the only thing that mattered, everything else was just static in the background. It's been me and her, and life has just been moving by and around us this whole time.”
“You looking to get killed is that it?”
“So, listen, I'm calling because she finally has brought me happiness. I finally found serenity. I don't want it taken away for a second. You promise to have my back on this? Do this for me, it will be the most important thing anyone's ever done! Remember what I did for you, I've never accepted you trying to pay me back before. I'm asking you now.” He hung up after explaining everything twenty minutes later.
He looked back at the document he was typing. He reread it and at times relived the special moments. Tonight the world would know. He printed everything out and organized everything on his desk. He took a yellow envelope and a purse with him for the ride of his life.
