12th week of the Pieces of Peace Poetry challenge
There should be five lines with a rhyme scheme of aabba
USUALLY, the first line begins with 'there was a...' and end with a noun (except a thing, i.e. only name, place, animal).
NOT COMPULSORY IF COUNTING SYLLABLES IS DIFFICULT FOR YOU, BUT IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU TRY
lines 1,2 and 5 should have 7 – 10 syllables and lines 3 and 4 should have 5 – 7 syllables.
The last line should be in hyperbole, i.e. you have to exaggerate things unusually.
Example - the dog ate all the stars.
Basically, it should be an imaginary and a fictional poem, like your midnight dreams !!
An example of a Limerick Poem by Edward Lear
'There was an old man with a beard
Who said, 'It is just as I feared,
Two owls and a hen
A lark and a wren
Have all built their nests in my beard!'
Feel free to ask, be open to learn ❤️
Thank you !
