Pieces of life
It's so silly,
To think that humans are complicated,
That humans are greedy,
For all the world and beyond.
When all we want is moments,
Simple, exhilarating moments,
Of life stolen from fate.
A moment to gain your coach's approval because you won the football match,
A moment to watch your father's smile because you stood first in the exams,
A moment to see the twinkle in your loved one's eyes because you told her you love her,
A moment to see the pride on your mother's face because you made a perfect round roti.
When we look beneath these superficial declarations,
Of conquests and of triumphs,
We realize that we need very little to go on,
We would gladly sacrifice our lives for it,
Cause all we need is a moment to shine.
