Inclined was I,
to fight for us.
But then, you told me,
"Darling, it is too late",
The tides of battle have changed.
Somewhere along the way,
You admitted defeat,
While I contemplated every feat,
that would lead us to victory.
This brazen world and it's ridiculous rules,
Had thus finally, wounded us.
I thought our bond to be immortal,
sacred and eternal.
Turns out, I was wrong,
Our bond wasn't all that holy or strong.
We were the union of two souls,
Conformed to be whole,
Or so I believed.
But no more,
We now are two baleful entities,
On a path to recovery,
Grasping for any semblance of sanity.
So here we stand once again,
At the precipice of doleful pain.
As starangers to one another,
Just as we had once begun;
As Strangers to each other.
