Looking back in time, I reminisce.
The way your eyes screamed joy and pride
The first time you secured me in your arms;
The hint of pride and love on your face
As I curled my hand around your finger.
I've given you too many sleepless nights
Screaming and crying in the middle of the night;
Only for you to lull me back to sleep lovingly.
I've put worth outlandish demands
Ones you never ceased to fulfill at your best!
Food, clothes, outstation vacations:
You provided me with every luxury
That you never witnessed as a child.
Above all, you gave me your values;
Honesty, Kindness, Humanity, Modesty:
My prized teachings.
Me, being a daughter as your first-born
The society never failed to play its role.
But for you, I was your pride;
The son you didn't have.
Being your daughter, it was inevitable
For me not to possess your demons.
Short-tempered just like you,
We don't see eye to eye, nowadays.
Ideals and ideologies clash;
We don't talk these days.
But always remember that:
However old I grow up to be,
I'll still remain your little girl;
I'll always need you by my side.
'Cause you're my superhero;
The first man I've loved and it will always remain that way.
I love you, Papa.
