The Nest Of Stars
As she stopped the Earth with a single stolen glance, I found myself turn into a comet, burning bright with unknown emotions, spiralling uncontrollably into a void of space I had always stayed away from. I hoped to find chasms of infinite darkness in this place and strived to stay away, but with every heartbeat, I fell light years into the same space, deeper and deeper till I let fate take control. Knowing exactly what it is I was phasing into, I try to keep it all to myself, but her voice rekindles my cold core and I find myself glowing brighter and brighter, with the radiance of a thousand Suns. I look into her eyes, and the Universe falls apart, bit by bit, till it’s just me, and her. Me, a lost and tired passing beam of light, and she? A magnanimous nest of stars, producing infinite infinites at every given moment. As we crossed paths for the briefest of moments, she let herself be seen, surrounded by a million lights, she was losing herself in darkness. A darkness I have known too well, one that had consumed me whole before a moment of madness emancipated me from its clutches. Hiding behind the jolly façade, she was a dilapidated human who needed the same amount of love that she so effortlessly gave away. My light illuminating her darkest crevices, I see her glow again, and just like that, my part in her life was over. I had managed to shed a brief, but meaningful light on her darkness.
Sometimes, we travel an eternity to meet someone for the smallest of moments, and that is enough for us to keep travelling an eternity more.
