Born in the wrong time
I once said to God,
"Don't you think I am born in a wrong era? In this age, people are money-minded and selfish. Help is rarely given to those who need it. Rich are becoming richer while the poor are becoming poor. People are evil but they call other creatures all of whom are much better than us, evil. Uniqueness is laughed upon. Life is treated like a rat race. Hardly anyone cares about nature. Art and artists are not valued. There's an air of pessimism around. People get offended at little things.
I am not like the average human nowadays. I don't desire to fit in, I won't change myself except my bad habits, but that doesn't mean I never wish that I was born in a different era. The time when art was valued. Scholars were redpected. The time when people were much less selfish. When there was either no stress or much less. When life wasn't a race.
Or even better, during the hunter-gatherers' age. I would be close to trees and nature. I wouldn't be judged. I could be wild. No stress. Fresh air and water. Of course there would some harms then, but the earth won't have the strange diseases that we have now. I'd rather face those threats than live in this era.
So pray tell me, why am I born in this era?"
God smiled. He said,
"My child, you are different. That's why you are born in this era. To make a change. Just as you said, you don't have to fit in. Be yourself. You don't have to be like them. You can still value nature, you can still be an artist. Now coming to your question, you were born here to make a change in this big bad world. You're the beam of hope. For change. For good."
