From its brazen swelling,
Invincibility took hold,
And blindly it pushed its way through...
Til a sharp barricade,
Forced acknowledgement of the errors
Made from foolish decisions...
Assumed minor at the time.
Now the spotlight shines,
Showing all the misconceptions,
And a once so arrogant entity
Begs for its opportunity
From the inevitable shame it now knows.
But such is a common journey
For the ego,
One of our greatest human flaws,
And the ego may only swell justly,
If a lesson is learned from each bruise.
