    TWENTY-'BEST'CENTURY

What have we brought upon ourselves?
When did color, become our ticket to glamor?
When did we coronate a king called 'Hate'?
That our kids know him before they clock eight.
When did our faith, begin to decide our fate?
    I ask tearfully,
What have we brought upon ourselves?

Is this the legacy we want to live behind?
    Because I am a minor,
I am not entitled to things that are major?
When did my race, begin to determine my position,
    Even when I haven't ran,
How do my clothes show who I am?
    I need an answer,
What have we brought upon ourselves?

    The only way forward,
    Is to go backward,
To the time we all were peaceful,
The time our actions weren't this spiteful
    I don't know how, but I know
Even though we brought this upon ourselves,
    There are better days ahead.
