It’s a place where no one stops
Yet she waits there with a cigarette between her lips
Her car stands between the road and the lake
    Quiet and still

    In a cold December night
At the porch, where my body rested
Eyes kept falling on blinking head lights
Fell on an open hair, dressed tight

    Those hands drew constellations
In a sky blank and grey
    Dots made roads
And rain drops on paper boats
    Waters kiss the bare legs
Fireflies run to their little homes
Cemented seat, droplets fell on cigarette buds
And the little steps entered an empty hut

Long nights in a tiny couch,
    She never knocked the door
And a story sailed like a limitless boat
Time is a bitch, is all I’ve heard
    And they reminded myself
    About some plain simple nerds

And yet if you peek into the ancient house
You will find her at the balcony
    Feet hanging,
In a broken mug, bitter brown coffee she sips
An old Marlboro Light between her lips

One fine morning, I broke all my clocks
With hands I drew hours on the stars
Time did tell me what was due
Old lovers were the only men the broken hearts knew
I gifted her calendars of past
And sometimes pictures of the heart
She took the broken pieces, put them in jars
With fragments she painted, then her tiny little scars

Late sun and longer nights again
    Hard bones and weary head
Traffic lights and a busy city,
Blank slates and empty couch on the day sixty

It’s a place where no one stops
Yet she waits there with a cigarette between her lips
Her car stands between the road and the lake
    Quiet and still

I stare at an old empty road
With bitter brown coffee stains on my shirt
    Someone tells me,
    She has taken a cab
    Kept her car somewhere
Drove into the space, with roads she made with her hands
    You know, the Stardust lands

She says the waters sing there
    Light years from here
