You fed me all those pretty words
    Like candy coated little birds
    I swallowed down until
    My throat was sore

They made a nest inside my mouth
So tasty I could not spit out
A sweetness I had never known before

Then slowly flew up to my mind
On wings that turned to lemon rinds
    And soured the loving dreams
    That seemed so true

Now every time I hear you speak
Those pretty words with tiny beaks
    Remind me how you lie
    The way you do
