I made my choices I thought was right.
You broke my trust with all the lies,
Leaving me broken in the cold that night.

Thought you would change and love me more.
But the broken things are not meant to be close,
As they hurt people who are closer though.

The train stops longer than it meant to.
Maybe it wants you to finish your smoke
and go grab a coffee,
and while you do,
simply stand and marvel at the
newspaper boy solving sums by the headlines
or at the dog rubbing its nose against the woman's leg till she
stoops over and pets him,
or maybe at the greenery beyond
where two people meet for the last time and share broken promises.
Maybe it's just a coincidence that when you take a sip
the red petals by my window flutter and fall
that you know nothing of
because the last time I met you
you were on your knees with a ring for a girl you didn't love,
and here you are,
back to your cigars, dropping the ashes
