Mobile Phone Addiction
Give the tiny blue screen a rest
The disaster to your eyes to arrest,
Use the mobile phone with diligence
It is where lies once intelligence.
Your fingers for rest crave,
Accede before the situation turns grave,
They have other functions too
For which you don't need a clue.
Don't overload the grey matter,
If you do, it may shatter,
It is better to stay home as one normal
Than in an asylum dubbed abnormal.
For ever punching volumes of text
For being busy is a common pretext,
Take time to read a book or two
Or watch the star-studded sky in lieu.
Hold a pen and write a letter,
You will surely feel better,
When a message you get back
From your friend George or Jack.
Bring back the forgotten smile
And the the jaunty walking style,
Let the glint of recognition return
A reciprocal smile to earn.
Walk into the rain or shine,
Not lazing and totally supine
On the bed with a blinking phone,
All by yourself and achingly alone.
Are you aware there is a world-
A vibrant pulsating world-
Which is not a morphed or faked one,
But a real one under the sun.
