Hey y'all, I figure we've got a long weekend stuck inside the house ahead of us, so we might as well get through it together, eh? And on that note, here comes the next challenge...

So, the previous challenge had us using our thinking skills to come up with a positive perspective on the current situation; for this challenge, I want you to use your imagination and tell me where you'd go on a dream vacation if you were handed a ticket to anywhere. In addition to stating where you'd go, you can also mention who you'd go with (your significant other, your bestie, a family member, your beloved fur kid, or simply yourself - 'cause hey, you're somebody too!), what you'd be doing, what the surroundings look like, the local food, the length of your stay, and any other details you want to include. Our bodies might be stuck indoors, but our minds aren't, right? So let's do this thing! Woot!!

Must be penned in English, 40 lines or less, one submission only, no plagiarism, obscene language or images. The challenge runs for 24 hours and ends when it says "1d" in the upper right hand corner of this post.

MANDATORY HASHTAG: Please use the #cees_ticket_chall hashtag in your caption area.

Happy writing and don't forget to support your fellow participants by checking out their submissions! ✍

    **CHALLENGE NOW CLOSED**

Hello fellow writers! Although I'm still technically on hiatus, due to the turbulent times we're living in, I wanted to host a challenge. It's a known fact that our thoughts create our reality, so amidst the fearful, uncertain circumstances we're all facing, I figured it would behoove us to interject some positive vibes into the situation.
The RULES for the challenge are quite simple. Just write a short poem from a POSITIVE perspective about life as we currently know it. Please keep it to 30 lines OR LESS, English only.
The CHALLENGE WILL RUN for 24 hours from the time of posting and will END when it says '1d' in the upper right hand corner of this post. NO obscene language/images or plagiarism allowed.

MANDATORY HASHTAG: Be sure to use the #cees_pv_chall hashtag in your caption area.

*Don't forget to spend some time supporting your fellow participants by checking out their submissions.

Happy writing and thank you in advance for reposting! ✍

    Desperately seeking silence...

    SILENT SERENITY
    by Carolyn Glackin
    There's serenity in silence
Where not a word is heard
It's poetic when you find it
    This world devoid of words

Oh how I'd revel in it
    Like dancing in the rain
For a world which hath no words
Is a world which hath no pain

    There'd be no answers needed
For there'd be not any query
    Nor would there be confusion
    For naught would be contrary

    A world of pure awareness
    A state of silent bliss
We've tried it now and then
    But never quite like this

    Quiescent in our quietude
    Dormant in our dormir
Come join me in this place
    Where hearts speak without fear

Our minds and souls commune as one
We need no words at all
    Let's leave this verbiage behind
    Let's heed the silent call.

Due to some new information pertaining to my son's situation that needs immediate attention, I will be taking a leave of absence. I'll leave this post up for a while to give members a chance to see it, and then I'll be deactivating my account to avoid distractions. Blessings and take good care.
    Admin Carolyn

P.S. I'm also offering my huge, heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the many kind and compassionate comments from everyone throughout this difficult time. I can't properly express right now just how much it continues to mean to me, but I'm certainly beyond grateful. ♡

Normally I post my own work on my main account and I use this one for hosting challenges; but since my main account is temporarily deactivated and I need to work through some inner turmoil (which I do by writing), I'm posting this here. Dedicated to Charley with love, always and forever.

P.S. Due to the severity of my son's situation, I am not hosting challenges at this time. Also, this is not a repost account, so please only tag me when participating in my challenges. Thank you for understanding.

    A MOTHER'S LAMENT
    by Carolyn Glackin
Oh child of mine, where are you?!
    Your innocence, long gone
Please tell me, did I fail you?
    Where did we go wrong?

What happened to the ray of light
I once saw in your eyes?
    What of the joyful laughter
That often took me by surprise?

My heart is torn in pieces
As I mourn all that's been lost
And you, it seems, my dear one
    Have paid the highest cost

A thousand sorrows in my soul
    Wreak havoc on my mind
    I shouldn't have subjected you
To a world that's so unkind

If I could travel back in time
I swear I'd set things right
Instead of wandering in the dark
You'd join us in the light

My son, my son! Please hear me!
It's you I long to hold
    Whatever pain you're going through
    I'm feeling it tenfold

I'm reaching out to find you
    You needn't be alone
    Please extend your hand son
It's time to come back home

Please, my son... please hear me
Dear son, it's not too late
Just find your way back to me
    Forever shall I wait.

    ** THIS CHALLENGE IS CLOSED.**

Truth be told, I'm not particularly fond of hallmark holidays that cause our loved ones to feel obligated to spend copious amounts of money on candy and trinkets and make grand gestures to prove their love. It is Valentine's Day though, so I don't want to be a party pooper. As you might have surmised, the theme of today's challenge is love; but don't worry, I'm not forcing anyone to be sappy. Please continue reading...

♡RULES: This is a humorous theme prompt challenge and the theme is Love. Participants will write an original, creative short piece of 30 lines or less about something that they love. It doesn't have to be a person, nor even a living creature. Could be a book, a show, a pack of gum, your lucky gym socks, or anything deemed appropriate for a general viewing audience. Be sure to describe why you love whatever it is you've chosen to write about. Be funny, be clever, be you! One submission per participant, English posts only, and oh yeah - happy Valentine's Day!! ♡

NO inappropriate, foul, harsh, or offensive language!
NO plagiarism! Submit your own work only!
NO nude, graphic, obscene, or inappropriate images!
NO more than one submission per participant!

♡MANDATORY HASHTAG: Please be sure to tag your submission to #cees_love_chall so that I can locate it.

♡DURATION: This challenge will run for 24 hours from the time of posting, and will end when it says "1d" in the upper right hand corner of the post.

♡Please spend some time reading your fellow participants submissions and offer feedback/reposts on pieces you enjoy. Reposts help get their work seen by others.

    Happy writing! ✍

CLOSED CHALLENGE. PLEASE AWAIT THE NEXT ONE.

If you stop and think about it, nouns and verbs are the meat and potatoes (i.e. essential ingredients) of any sentence, but adjectives are the icing on the cake! As writers and poets, where would we be without adjectives?? Have you any idea how horribly drab things would be without those lovely words to jazz things up?! Consider this sentence: The boy sat. Hmm... ok. A boy sat. Whoop de do! Right? Nothing much exciting there. Just a noun and a verb. Certainly nothing to get riled up about. Don't we want to know more? With whom did he sit? Where was he sitting? Why was he sitting? In what manner was he sitting? And on and on... Now consider the difference with the addition of my favorite part of speech, the adjective: The young, dark haired boy sat patiently in the cool shade beneath the resplendent canopy of the huge oak tree while awaiting the school bus. Big difference right?? All hail the mighty adjective for saving us from literary monotony! Woot, Woot!! So as I've hopefully clearly demonstrated, adjectives are of utmost importance to writers; and perhaps even more so to poets, because they enhance our ability to sound poetic. Therefore, it would certainly behoove us to arm our poetic arsenal with as many of those little gems as possible! Hence, this challenge.

RULES: The objective of today's challenge is to learn at least one new adjective, but feel free to learn more. Go out into the great, big world (or consult Google ), and find an adjective that's completely new to you. Put it in your caption along with the definition, and then use it in your piece. And that's it. I would also encourage you to read your fellow participants submissions, so as to learn as many new adjectives as possible. They're very handy little buggers to have at your disposal. English posts only, one submission per person, and please allow up to several days for me to see your submission.

NO inappropriate, foul, harsh, or offensive language!
NO plagiarism! Submit your own work only!
NO nude, graphic, obscene, or inappropriate images!

MANDATORY HASHTAG: Please be sure to tag your piece to #cees_adj_chall

DURATION: This challenge will run for 24 hours from the time of posting, and will end when it says "1d" in the upper right hand corner of the post.

    Happy hunting and writing!! ✍

    **THIS CHALLENGE HAS ENDED**

To the best of my knowledge, none among us are perfect. We're all comprised of our own unique mix of strengths and weaknesses. And speaking of weaknesses, are our personal weaknesses really all that bad? Isn't it just possible that with a slight change in perception we might be able to detect the good in them? For example, a procrastinator who's always lazing about is usually viewed in a negative light; but perhaps those are the people who stop to smell the roses and don't miss out on the little joys of life because they aren't constantly off rushing to and fro like nearly everyone else is. With that said, a challenge is born! Please keep reading...

▪RULES: Spend a moment contemplating your personal weaknesses. Ponder the ways in which they might serve you well and be viewed positively as opposed to negatively. Write a piece detailing your discoveries. This is to be a positive piece that leads to a new level of self-awareness and personal discovery. As always, English posts only, one submission per person, and please allow up to several days for me to see your submission.

    NO plagiarized work!
NO nude, graphic, or inappropriate images!
NO foul, harsh, hateful, vile, obscene, obnoxious, or harassing language!

DURATION: The challenge runs for 24 hours from the time it's posted, and officially ends when it says "1d" in the upper right hand corner of the post.

MANDATORY HASHTAG: Please use #cees_was_chall in your caption area.
