Platonic Love
When the touch of naked flesh
Fails to send tremors
In the once-agile body,
When the blood is no longer hot
And struggles its clogged way
Through the network of channels-
Arteries and veins.
When no desire is kindled
To watch late night shows
Meant for Adults only,
When the spirit is willing,
But the flesh is weak,
When the urgings rise,
But the body stays limp,
It's at this time
When people boast
Of Platonic love.

her pain will dissolve into
ephemeral swirls of muffled memories,
her sleep will lose its haunted shadows
and her dreams will have a wisp of sweetness,
her heart won't ache with a desire to be held,
and her eyes won't search for that silhouette among the crowd,
maybe then she will embrace herself,
spread her wings,
and lift off to the horizon of freedom.

A sad soul
Her heart clenched as they glared.
Her tears fell as they they mocked.
So many thoughts ran through her mind.
"Why was I born this way?", "Why am I not like them?".
She stared from afar his beautiful eyes.
She admired from afar his warm smile.
A smile she wished would one day be hers.
But she knew it would never be because she was born different..and being different was a sin. -
