    Picking-choosing your friends

    A place called home #3

I step out into lush greenness, the foliage thick enough to cover an elephant. The rain has just drenched the brown earth of its sorrows. The smell of mud fills the ether. A praying mantis quietly meditates on a jasmine bush. The mosquitoes are composing their own fugues and canons. The yellow butterflies with fluttering gossamer-wings circle the mauve lilies in the pond. My grandmother is reciting her prayers while still on one of her countless trips between our illam and temple. My grandfather performs his favourite ritual- reading the morning newspapers - Mathrubhumi in the vernacular and the Times in English. The smell of sandalwood wafts through as the incense sticks continue burning. Ripe, yellow mangoes have fallen on the ground and a squirrel scampers to get a bite. A man hurries along to catch the bus to go pay the electricity bill before his life goes unto darkness. Damp from the dip in the pond, a skinny lad heads to the temple to ask for forgiveness and pray for plentiful. Someone is making tea for the house- strong, light, with milk, black, with sugar, without sugar, stirred and beaten. At the corner store, people are drinking lime soda, talking about elections, weather, and football. The different umbrellas passing by forms a rainbow in itself, some use Popy, some Johns, and others plain, black ones. The sky is dark grey, overcast and rumbling. Nila is already flowing over the Pattambi paalam. It will pour a lifetime's worth by the time the Sabari Express pulls into platform 1.

Hey before you scroll please take a moment and hear me out whether you agree or disagree those who know me are probably thinking that I'm just saying this because I don't want my parents to whoop me okay that's partly true but let's be serious to all the parents out there that are still whooping their kids the next time you go to whoop your kids think about what I'm about to tell you

Let start with the reason why I think some of you whoop your kids

1 # you whooping your kids because chances are when you were younger you probably got whoop yourself

2# you feel it's the most effective way to get your kids to listen

3# you take out your anger on your kids because you don't know how to solve your problem or their is no one else to take it out on

4# you happen to have a problem child

And I can go on and on but I'm going to make it short

Reasons why I believe you should stop whooping your kids

1# whooping your kids won't make them stop doing wrong infact it will make them continue to do wrong I know you're thinking this girl is insane but it's true you see when I was younger and I Knew to my guts that If I did something wrong that'll make me get whoop guess what I still went ahead and did it anyway because I got so use to it that I'll say to myself it was just whooping it's not going to killl

#2 whooping your kids not only affects them physically but also mentally it can cause side effects when they get older

#3 whooping your kids is going take them hide there feelings from you if there comes a time your kids done something really bad or is dealing with a problem they are not going to tell you rather they'll keep it to themselves or share it with someone in whom they aren't afraid of this is very common, a lot of my peers would come and share some very personal things with me and when I tell them they need to tell there parents or guardian about the problem or they, would say they can't because they are too afraid of what they would do to them

#4 whooping your kids may cause them to be violent to there spouse or peers and even to they're own kids and then the cycle continues remember I'm not telling you to spoil your child I'm just saying there are other methods of discipline that can be used to discipline your child that does not require whooping
Or you've read this to the end I will like to say thank you for not strolling and for taking your time to read my thoughts and please leave a comment down below to let me know if you agree or disagree with me and why?

    Deathly Solace

Sometimes I wonder if the light we have been chasing through our life is the one that has been seeling our eyes all along. Maybe darkness isn't as blinding as the light that jabs us, forever instilling a fear of dark within our hearts. Maybe it is the one that clips our wings when the clouds veil the sky?

And if my maybes are to be heard, it's the comfort I have been searching in the warmth of the sun that has me oblivion of the serenity of starlit sky. I have long been hiding under a shade to know what dancing with the storm feels like. And when I wiped off that first drop of rain from my cheeks, before it can even teach me the feelings drenching can bring, I realise I am the one who has let her fears clip her wings.

Trading my strength for solace, I was the one who let her fears slowly imbibe in her veins, unaware of the fact that the fire that warms your soul is often the one that burns you down.

// And I smoldered the broken parts of her soul in the fire of anguish that was destroyed by me on the days when I didn't let dry, the soreness of her eyes.

I'm standing here silently, watching her suffering in the calefaction of agony, and still, she's smiling like a sapphire's blaze. I always gazed at her as she embraced the charisma of galaxies in her eyes, and her beauty is like the moon, irrelevant of the fact that she is the mare. Now in her eyes, all I can see is cruor, and her charm is scorched.

Little by little, she started to evanesce in tenebrous cordolium and I'm touching nullity. In a flash, she reliquishes to the ebb or maybe she stellifies in the sidereal caelum, as I lost my senses staring at an asterism.
But all I know is in the end, she stumbles on what she was wishing for, her solace in the death. //

Remembering you feels like a song which I sing to myself. When my eyes shut to this morning sun , they sculpt remnants of you that dance to the morning light. There is something about this thing called memory that makes the sky twirl around the earth. Like a longing that pushes shores to quietly settle at the feet of the night...like a hopeful palm outstretched towards emptiness... your memory awakens in me. You rise... you fall. My heart races like the ocean current almost as full as the sky that sits condensed on the leaf. This shape of memory stays eroded on my uncertain lips and these words are pulled out of me. You stay until the colour of the night slowly fades into the black of my eyes and dawn begins to rest on these eyelids...

In this town of unaddressed letters and awaiting passageways, you and I stand at those opposite ends. We are ghosts of moments that turn wet and then slowly into those flowing rivers. We are silent worlds reserved for the greatest of collisions. We are children of wait, born on the bluest of nights and orphaned into the arms of separation. We carefully trespass over these hazy lines of remembering and forgetting and play our parts in life's greatest mockery .

In this dying life, a pattern of losing takes shape.

Remembering you feels like a song I sing to myself. The summer gush outside melts into my palms and in it I hear your song.

    The Petrichor
    After the downpour
    Is mesmerizing
    The whole world
    Is dressed in new
    Colours similar
    To a newly wed bride
    Each and every inch of
    Earth seems to be a
    Newly born
    It comes as an
    Message from God
    After scorching heat
    To enjoy the refreshing
    Scent of its abode...

    The Euphoria
    Of the Petrichor
    Enters the house
    Through the windows
    That are opened
    Specially to welcome it
    It wings it way
    To my table
    Where I sit writing
    Poetries for you
    The euphoric petrichor
    Reminds me of your aura
    Fresh and unique
    And I end up
    Short of words
    To complete
    My poetry for you...

If a woman got rapped, the society will show sympathy towards her and often the government offers financial support for the family rather than punishing the culprit properly.

Can a woman's virginity be justified by money?

    The Lonely Aquarium
    Episode-12
    Drips

Last few days has been quite a roller coaster ride for me. Got my mom back, my friend became my boyfriend, I have an aquarium in my bed room, the most favourite person of mine became the most hated, I almost killed my boyfriend and started smoking a packet of cigarette every day; uffff..... Nothing but surreal.

It has been 3 days since TJ was taken to the hospital. Haven't heard anything from them. Also I haven't yet started his diary, which for some reason scares me to open. I am sitting on my balcony the entire day. The rain lost its beauty and I no more see the droplets dance in the wind. I grip my knees while placing my cheeks on them, looking at an empty building from my vicinity.

    "Amy darling!"
    "Ma..."

"Have something dear, you skipped two meals today."
"Not feeling like it ma, you have!"

"Amy I am not gonna eat if you won't my dear."
"Mom! please do not hurt me more, I am done!"

"Amy, you are not done! Did you all of a sudden forget your up bringing. Don't you dare say you are done when this is nothing; I mean nothing in front of what you have been through. Amy, now stand up.."
    "No mom.."

"I am your mother for better or for worse, I am saying; stand up!"

She held my hand and rushed inside the room. Her grip was tight and hot. She took me to my room and make me sit in front of the aquarium. Took TJ's diary from my table and banged it on my lap.

"Amy, someone is waiting for you to come in a hospital. And you are sitting in your balcony, smoking cigarettes. I might be the worst mother in the world now, but I raised the best daughter in the world. Now don't put me to shame dear."

    She kissed my forehead, held my cheeks in her palms, looked into my eyes and left before her tears could roll down. Snap; reality. I am supposed to open this diary and read. I am not sure why, but there is some shaking within my body I am not able to handle. I took a long breath, opened;

    #1
Wow, I am nervous. Why, this is my diary. This is so new and stupid. Why am I even doing this? Will have some benefits I guess. Hi my shower imagination characters, I hope you all like this.
    #1

That really made me smile in this bad day. That is something my man would say. I miss his presence already. His motorcycle and helmet are still in my enclosure. I took the diary there and sat on his motorcycle before turning the next page.

    #2
Wow! its been 23 days huh. I adore my consistency. I am the best. At least I have something to say today. I have started video game streaming. Been a dream for a while. Mc Donalds got me there; slowly but surely. I am excited for this chapter of my life.
    #2

He is such a beautiful soul. Did I really need all this drama? When I knew about him, I could have had a sit down conversation; I am such a bitch. Sorry baby...

    #3
First subscriber yayyy.... I am famous! Some body really subscribed to my Twitch channel. Wow...
    #3

    #4
I am getting my first motorcycle delivery today. I has been a long time coming. Okay okay, its been 4 months since I touched the diary. Hey, at least I am on the 4th page; makes sense right? My own Hayabusa! Who am I kidding? I could not afford a liter so I bought a half liter; Ninja 500. Aww I love this thing. Hope I don't die due to testosterone build up!
    #4

I remember when he first said about his motorcycle. He was so proud of that. He saved a lot by very strict measures even with managing food habits. He is a stubborn bastard if not anything. I rushed through pages to find anything relevant to the situation, because everything here are things he said to me in person.

    #36
Aunt Alice called today. Asked if I knew Amora from my college. That was no where close to detailed in order to even check. That was just a name. She told that she will accompany me to the college tomorrow to show her. I am not sure what she wants, but hey; shouldn't hurt right, right?
    #36

    #37
You my shower friends are not gonna believe. Aunt walked directly to a tree in the campus, as if she knew where she was going. I saw this girl my man.... If she isn't God, then I have no idea who else is. Her presence and aura drove me crazy. She was sitting there looking at the sky through small gaps within the leaves. She was alone, unaffected by gravity. She was literally floating in our dimension. She felt like those cross-dimensional enigmatic beings from movies and stuff. Aunt told me to be friends with her. I thought to myself, I wanna kiss those lips as I wake and before I sleep for then next 400 years straight. But I replied, Okay. She told that she will explain why, tomorrow evening when she visits me.
    #37

Am I curious why or am I falling in love again and again with this bastard? I don't know! But I need to eat before I turn the page, It is going to be a really long night.

Hampi is a town in Hosapete taluk of the Ballari district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Located along the Tungabhadra River in the East centre part of the State near the border of the Andra Pradesh.

Hampi is a small village in Northern Karnataka, taken over by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Centre. There are lot of temples and art related buildings which need to be preserved. One of the must see places in Hampi is Vijaya Vittala Temple Complex. It is an architectural showpiece of Hampi. The temples are built in a large area with high compound walls and towers surrounding the gates. There are many halls, pavilions, temples located within the compound. The Stone Chariot is one of the iconic structure's of Hampi.

Entrance is from the Eastern side of the tower next to the ticket counter, a series of compact platforms along the Central axis of the campus is there. At the end of the campus stands the Stone Chariot. This is a Shrine built in the form of Chariot. The image of the Eagle God (Garuda) was originally created in the inner sanctum. Mythologically, Garuda or the Eagle God is known to be the transporter of Lord Vishnu.

The Shrine looks like a monolithic rock but in actual it is built with many giant rocks. The joints are very smartly covered with carvings and other decorative features that adorn the Stone Chariot. It is a rectangular platform about one feet high and the base of the platform battle scenes from the mythology has been carved out. The Chariot might look as if though it is resting on four giant wheels in real it is not putting it's weight on, it only acts as a mimic. There are a series of flowers surrounding the wheel.

The painting on the carvings can be still be seen, because it was really protected from the natural wearing elements the under of the Chariot spots one of the preserved specimens of the kind of paintings. This is similar to the paintings at the Vittala Temple paintings which has used a kind of mineral as medium.

There are two elephants positioned infront of the Chariot as if they were pulling the Chariot. The fact is the elephants were bought from elsewhere and placed at a very later stage. In the first two horses were carved and placed in the position to prove this the horses tails and rear legs can still be seen behind these elephant sculptures. A broken stone ladder between the elephants is like the entrance to the inner sanctum. The spot marks on the floor and the doorsill where once the ladder had stood.

10 AMAZING FACTS ABOUT STOELNE CHARIOT

    #1
The Chariot is actually a Shrine dedicated to Garuda, which you see inside the complex of Vijaya Vittala Temple. There used to be a massive sculpture of Garuda seated a top of the Chariot but now, it is ruined.

    #2
The Stone Chariot of Hampi is recognized among the three famous Chariots in India. One in Konark and another one in Mahabalipuram.

    #3
The iconic Chariot was built by the Great King of Vijayanagara, Shri Krishna Deva Raya during the 16th century. It is said in the history that the King got fascinated with the Konark Sun Temple Chariot while fighting a battle in Odisha, and wanted one of that kind in his empire.

    #4
There is an interesting talk among the locals that the World would come to a halt when the Chariot moves from it's place. Also, villagers believe that the Idol inside the Chariot was stolen by Britishers and it is still there, somewhere in Britain.

    #5
The architecture is inspired by the Dravidian art and it is a pure colossal structure mirroring the skills of the early Craftsmen and architects.

    #6
One amazing fact about Stone Chariot is it's construction. It looks like one single piece of a solid structure. However, it was built by slabs of granite whose linkages are smartly hidden with artistic designs.

    #7
One should observe the base of the Chariot which depicts the mythical battle scenes in it's finest details. The Chariot has elephants seated but you can clearly observe the hind legs and tails of the horses behind the elephants. A smaller ladder is observed in between the two elephants as a way to enter the inner sanctum of the Shrine.

    #8
Stone Chariot of Hampi is designated as one of India's most known archaeological destinations. Also, the Government of India printed the Chariot in 50Rs Note.

    #9
The Chariot is located in the complex of Vijaya Vittala Temple where one can see the Stone Musical Pillars. The beauty of these Pillars is that they are built like a Musical Instrument. It was a place where dance programmes used to happen in those times.

    #10
The Entire area of the complex is spread in an area of 26 sq.kms, most of the things around are ruined now. However, though the Chariot is half-ruined, it still carries that enigma and magic in it.

Ballari is my hometown. And so Hampi has become the playspot to us. I have almost visited around 150 times. But still I can say that I haven't seen Hampi completely. Because it's not a place to see just within few days. It needs to understand the history nd the monuments, sculptures, temples, scripts, halls, paintings, shilabalikas etc.

    Thank you for reading.
