Dhanteras is also known as Dhantroyodashi. It is the day where people buy gold, silver jewellery or utensils as it is believed that buying gold or silver items on this day protect people from bad omen or any negativity. This day is marked by worshipping god Dhanvantari.

छोटी-छोटी खुशियों से महरूम रहने वाले लोग
पसीने गंदगी में हरदम गुम रहने वाले लोग
कभी-कभी धनी भी कंगाली झेलता है
जब मुकद्दर लकीरों से खेलता है....
मेरे मौला एक दुआ सबके नाम
न किसी को ज़्यादा न किसी को कम हो
निरोगी काया, सुंदर सबका मन हो
न बड़ा भाई-बहन चंदन-सा घिसते रहे...
न छोटा भाई-बहन हिना-सा पिस्ते रहे....
एक दुआ अपने नाम....

I tried to light each and every corner of my house,
But that corner in my heart which are still left aside
Why we lights the candle but not our heart,
Fact is that real darkness is in our heart not on the world outside

मिट्टी के दीये अब दिखते कम है बाजार मे,
Electric lights का ही सिर्फ craze है आज कल समाज मे
वो बूढ़ी अम्मा अब दिखती नही बाजार मे,
जिनसे लेने को दिए हम बचपन मे जाते थे बाजार मे
उनकी वो बात ना जाने क्यों आज भी याद थी,
"और बेटा हाथ मत जला लेना पटाखे जलाते इस बार" बस यही बात ना जाने क्यों वो अम्मा कहती हर बार थी
कभी समझ नही पाया था की उनकी बात मैं कौनसी छुपी बात थी
और कभी समझ नही पाया की उनके चहरे के पीछे छिपी कौनसी भाव थी
एक बार एक दुकान वाले भइया से पूछा था उस अम्मा की कहानी,
बहुत दुख हुआ था ये जानकर उनके बेटे की जल गई हाथ थी जब दीवाली की रात थी सुहानी
ना जाने क्यों ऐसे लोगों पर indirectly हम लोग कररहे अत्याचार है,
उनलोगों के मिट्टी के दिये खरीदो क्यों कि उन्हें भी मानना ये दीवाली का त्योहार है -
Dhanteras
Glitter and gold is what everybody is looking for,
But sometimes you achieve by realising your core.
Golds and riches are earned with hard work,
Mix the sincerity and discipline in life with your quirk.
It's the first day of festival of light,
May your hard work come in sight.
On and on as you move with your chores,
May they become what you are looking for this Dhanteras!!!
