Dare To Dream
I sit up. Drenched in my confusion.
Everything was stolen. Taken from me.
As if in that moment, I have nothing.
The truth waves as a relentless banner over my being....
I am still without. Still alone.
All I have envisioned is missing.
The deep places Of my mind—
They are all Swept away.
I awaken. Longing to go back.
I clench my eyes and try to breath just right.
Desiring to catch a few more moments.
“Mom, Dad, Sis and all the family are doing well; thank you!” I hear myself calling out to a friend—
This is my safe place.
These are my people. All of them.
Peace is here, home, normalcy—completion.
Then it’s none of these things again.
My awakening crushes my new adventures.
It crushes all of my memories.
What felt so real was only scattered thoughts,
As Birds taking flight from the lifting of my eyes.
Departing as fast as they arrived.
Yet I will continue
Knowing that someday,
Even when everything stops,
I will have Dreams that I can keep...
