Urging you to spare it for me, here I am on my knees

To give us a meal a day, my parents had to be on their toes
As a child, I would barely get enough food and clothes
��
I loved to read good books and study for knowledge
But my poor parents couldn't send me to college
��
I had a younger sister and we wanted her to learn
To support her education, some money I had to earn
��
Even after her marriage, I'd save as much as I could
Poverty hadn't allowed me to buy books in my childhood
��
Times changed, and, to buy a few books I could afford
There wasn't a place in my house where they could be stored
��
Then one day I saw this bookshelf in the scrap market
It was cheap, but I didn't have enough money in my pocket
��
I paid in installments, and it became my precious possession
Since then, it has always remained my magnificent obsession
��
In a few years from now, my ailing soul will be set free
Son, fate has already snatched away your mother from me
��
After her demise, my life has never been the same
I have already transferred this house to your name
��
This bookshelf is my oldest buddy; it's close to my heart
Of the chequered journey of my life, it's an integral part
��
Dear daughter-in-law, please let this old bookshelf stay
It's harmless, and for its sustenance, nothing you need to pay

Read MoreThey are memory lanes, my mood boosters.They are my favourite rectangular boxes.Because there,I spend most of my time during depression and during boredom too.They are my favourite because they keep my favourite things within them .They eventually make me a good organiser and good decorator and of course a good human.They are my bookshelves.People call them racks carrying books.But for me, that is a room ,a home ,a town.They are books themselves holding myriads of stories.
Though it's cleped my bookshelf, it holds a lot more things than books.The rack is like a small system for me, I get habituated with that and whenever I get shifted somewhere else or leave that place, it becomes difficult for me to make a new system.Leaving that shelf seems like leaving my old town.Again in a new town, I start residing and create the same and I find my whole vision within that.
That's not just a small rack , that's a city of many books , numerous pages and innumerable letters which shows me direction , answers my questions and feeds me with a beauty called knowledge . That's not a small place because it holds my diaries ,a bunch of handmade bookmarks,an old alarm clock ,a pair of highlighters, my headphones and also my only coffee mug and all of them together complete more than a quarter of what I call my whole world .That's vital ,that's not a small place.
They may call it a rack , I surmise that 'a temple'.I don't like dusty surface,scattered objects,faded walls in that temple .So I keep it clean,organised and decorated.There, I worship knowledge and discipline and get blessed with peace and happiness.
They are books themselves holding myriads of stories, reminding me regularly to toil on zillion of dreams I hold.

Congratulations @unheard_aisha_poetry for your book " Divine Souls". Had a wonderful time reading it. My humble opinion on the book is as follows:
Book is set up in a backdrop of a wedding and the happiness it brings. But, the stories within a single overarching story are the real tale woven by the author. There are 8 main characters in the story, each with their past and its versions. How these characters affect and how their contexts intermingle with each other is the whole narration of the book. It’s an emotional book with lots of “why” and “how” thrown into a lot of scenes.
Reader is immediately engaged with the marriage ceremony & the past of all the family members associated with the event. It throws the reader right into the thick of things to accentuate the juxtaposition of happiness and sorrow within a life time
The book tells a tale of human emotions circling around various characters. It tells a non linear tale with a lot of back and forth in timelines. This phenomenon is, according to me mirrored as a reflection of complexity of emotions which most of the times oscillate within wide spectrum of feelings. It tells a simple story with the intricacies of a mystery. The rollercoaster and ups and downs of various characters is completely relatable and real. It describes how miscommunication or lack of communication can tore apart a seemingly pristine and perfect relationship.
The character arc of almost all the characters is justified and sufficiently explained within the constraints of a book. There are few gaps within the reasoning and the explanation offered for certain twists but that can be neglected or ignored due to the overall impact of the writing.
Writing for the most part is formidable with a lot of emphasis laid on daily interactions. This creates a profound visual for the reader where he/she will be able to relate to almost all the characters in their own lives. “Divine Souls” is not a perfect book but one which will keep you engaged and will keep on tugging your emotional strings till you can feel the pain, happiness, indifference and sin of each & every character.
