The Open Window
I gaze through the open window,
Longing again to go out in the open,
It's been a while now,
Since I felt the fresh air on my face.
He says I'm too demanding,
Wanting too much to see or feel,
He's 'allowed' me so many things,
Which probably other women won't dream.
I slowly smile to myself,
Thinking about the price of my 'independence'.
I have been a bad example you see,
Having a number of friends, or a supportive family,
I do not understand the need to possess somebody,
Or the fact that abuses are part if a healthy relationship,
Yet, I encouraged these, since I never really stood up for me.
Clouds come floating, signalling an imminent rain,
I sit by the window, gazing into the vastness,
It's been a while now-
Since I felt the rains washing down tears on my face.
