If you say you see a kind light
Shining bright behind my eyes,
I will laugh into your face,
Tell you you've made a mistake:
The light that you see is the fires from Hell:
If I open my mouth, you'll see it yourself.
If you say I am a decent person,
All acts of indecency will float to my mind,
And I will scuff my shoe against the floor,
As I stomp the dancing devil inside my soul.
For you will have reminded me
Of the reason I privately choke myself.
If you say I have a nice smile,
I will narcissistically agree:
It's an expression I have practiced,
In the face of trauma and misery,
And I will wear it on my dying day,
So you can't what I'm really feeling.
If you say to me "I love you"
I'll smile with my eyes aglow.
I'll take your heart into my mouth
And tell you, "You're delusional."
But regardless I will give it a try,
For love is what life is all about.
