IS IT A CRIME TO BE YOUNG?

Is it a crime to be young ?
What's the fault in owning an expensive phone,
A laptop or even driving a flashy car?

Harassed, arrested and killed on basis of friviolous accusations
Our voices shut and our rights violated

We've been turned into the punching bags of these monsters
Repeatedly assaulted was he, Raped and victimized was she

Oh! Let us rise and put an end to the oppressors
That have soiled our lands red
We have a voice and our voices will be heard!

    FOR NIGERIA

    Tears roll down my eyes
As I watch people being killed for standing against the worries that arise
Democracy they call it, yet our human rights they greatly bastardize
The boats of peace they deliberately capsize
Just because they are not ready to, with our pains, fraternize
New means, do they daily improvise
To make sure our happiness is jeopardized
    And we are practically marginalized
Their vision is to have us paralyzed
But no, we'll not be trivialized
A better Nigeria we have visualized
And a better Nigeria we will get.

IS IT A CRIME TO BE YOUNG?

"The youths are the leaders of tommorow", yet tomorrow seems like eternity
These thugs on uniform tried to take away our safety and serenity
Bruised and abused, time and time again by the same people supposed to shield us from violence

Is it a crime to be young, if I may ask?
    Special Anti-Robbery Squad with a clear-cut task
You'd rather be known for thuggery and murdering the innocent young ones

Breaking the norms, standing out, was all too much to bear
Let's mold them into the kind of youths we want, let's spread fear

    Nigeria bleeds

    Ah! You soulless demons,
devils that’s what you all are.
    You are killing innocent people,
    Why?
Are you scared of the truth?
Are you afraid that we are taking a stand?
Are you afraid that we are coming together and fighting against you ?

You having been calling us youths lazy yet look it is those lazy youths that you bring an end to you all,
    You are making us bleed,
    You are making us scared,
You are making us feel unsafe all for what?
Is it because of your ego?
You all are sitting down while our blood keeps on staining the flag?
You all are just a disgrace to the title you’ve been given?
It is so unfortunate to have people like you in power
    You are heartless,
    You are the devil himself,
    What wrong have we done?
Is it because we are raising your voices ?
Is it because we want to end bad governance or what?
    You want a war
And you are going to get one,
    You oppressors,
You don’t want to hear the truth,
Does the truth hurt you that much that you are killing people anyone,
We need you think for once in your life’s if the killing took place with someone you love??
Imagine the pain and misery you would fell,
But no! You can not think like that, you can’t feel the pain of the nation you can only feel your own pains,
We need you to be considerate
We need you to have hearts,
We need all of you to be reform

    Killings everywhere
    What is happening
Everything is so bad, it's devastating
We don't deserve this, we're only trying to live
We this "lazy people" still have so much to give
    So why let us die?
Why end our lives like we don't matter?
We've only been trying to make things better
For crying out loud, y'all so bitter
Y'all destroyed everything already, made us suffer
Least you could do was help repair this steadily
Help fix our nation so we could be happy
    These killings had better stop
If not we're gonna treat your fuck up

    Where a country once stood

    The streets reek!
They reek of the sweat of my sisters,
    The tears of my mothers
The blood of my brothers!! Slain! like cattle in a battle where our only weapon was faith in a lost country..
Slain by the hands we should seek refuge in
    Slain by our protectors
    Slain by our leaders !

    Our streets bleed!
Free flowing blood of our "leaders of tomorrow"
Who then shall lead when the leaders of today should have stopped decades ago?

A mother's heart is broken because she never got a chance to wave her gallant soldier goodbye
A father grieves the loss of his child
Sisters and brothers weep incessantly, we all feel this loss...
A son of the soil you say??
Now the soil calmly welcomes his blood ...
    Where a country once stood

    A NIGERIAN YOUTH

When I remember I cry, I cry so hard
The very same people put in position to protect us are killing and battering us
The biggest lie is "POLICE IS YOUR FRIEND", cos even BAIL is not free

You beat me cos I own a phone, laptop
You beat me ,vent your anger on me
Could you CHANNEL IT TO THE GOVERNMENT?
Your beat me for just no just reason

I try to say my rights you become triggered and threaten to kill me
You make me feel insecure just because you have gun
You threaten to take my life like you own it

How do i then feel safe?
It's time for REFORMATION,REORIENTATION,TO LEARN AND UNLEARN

    Join the wave,
    as it hums and rumbles
    with power.

Lend your current to the tide
let it carry on, and on

    Stand aside,
    if you won't join
    Or be swept on anyway
    Nothing can stop this now.

    End them all

And this is the beginning of the end
No other time to claim all that’s lost,
    end all that inhibit-
    Our vision, wellbeing and progress,
    protectors that otherwise brutalize us,
    leaders that otherwise impoverish us,
system without spine that crumbles dream
    and penchant for empty promises.

    People share a common pain
of neglect, low quality of life and brutality.
Perpetrators are united in sharing spoils,
    however, people stuck as victim,
with our diversity drowning us in blinded loyalty.

Alas, we found a common voice
of same neglect, low quality of life and brutality,
trepidation as strangers in our country,
trajectory continues, what will be left for our children?

Now is the time to end them all.
    We are the unbroken breed,
We're more on this side of the neglect,
Our voice is stronger, louder and fierce.
    Together, we end them all.

    End SARS and Bad Governance

    Lurching through crowded streets
with terror coursing through my veins,
reminiscing on times with the men in black.

Men with sparks in their eyes
    and thunder in their voice,
    forcing to the floor

    globules of red from the skin;
    to whom morality is dead
and life is nothing but a water drop.

    Men reeling in brutality
rather than in the safety of all.
Yet, the bourgeoisie sees no wrong in all.

    Dreading responsibility in liberty
    Mocking youths cry:
"How long will you fight before getting crushed?

    You have survived this oppressive
    jungle while you feel invincible
after your liberty already nibbled away."

Then came the trekkers from the white clime
who have tasted the luxury in good governance,
the soft bed in which these kingdoms have expired

    How minority reaching majority,
    seizing authority and hating minority.
Then I realised, with my thoughts piercing fabrics of the sky,

like an airplane gliding through the air:
time to end the brutality of the men in black,
    men whose actions elude reasoning.

    How abhorrent to democracy
the imprisonment of a soul without cause.
Yet they say we are lazy.
