She used to play with me every day
Then one day she took me out to play;
We were having the greatest of fun
Playing in the park under the sun
But then the weather started to change
And things began to feel strange.
For she was gone and I was alone
She'd left me here and gone home.
If I could cry, tears would fall
I guess she doesn't love me after all.
The days went by and the rain didn't stop
Oh why did it have to me, that she did drop?
The rain soaked in, my body falling apart
How long till the break reached my heart?
Then as my life was drawing a close
I was nudged by a little black wet nose
I opened my eyes and before me a dog,
And someone who had braved the rain and fog.
Picked me up, holding me gently in his jaw
Finally I didn't feel lonely anymore.
That night I had myself a new home
It was warm, dry and I wasn't alone
Next to the dog I cuddled up to sleep
This friend I promised I would keep.
We played every day and he never forgot me
The toy of a dog, wasn't what I was meant to be
But my life was full, and oh so great
Meeting my dog friend was fate.
