There are many words for what you are,

Soul mate, family.

I want to say thank you for staying with me and consoling me on days that were dark and gloomy. Those hours that I needed you, you were there and how ! It was a great comfort knowing that I always had you around .
My childhood memories are incomplete without you. To pop, rock, jazz, RnB, country, classics, opera – I owe a lifetime of support , trust and friendship. You’ve given me strength, courage, laughter and so much more.

My Voice
I lost my voice one day.
After years of no one listening,
I stopped speaking.
Although my heart
had so much to say.
The fight too much.
Just went with the flow.
Not realizing such silence
would cause my pain
to find another place to sow.
Numbing habits to block
my thoughts.
I acted in life simply
like a robot.
Not feeling or talking
until one day I begin
to feel safe.
Away from the abuse,
the hits, the words that
other said to me reflecting
their own self-hate.
The words came slowly
at first.
Often time in bursts.
Then quiet as I asked if
the story of my past was
really true.
Was it?
How could it be?
But it was; a living
hell we went through.
Each day I bring the darkness
to light.
By talking outloud and
making it real.
The shame slowly going away.
As my voice is heard again
with my story of survival
healing I have to say.
Can you hear it?

One can argue that we can sometimes get over grammar and phonetics and speak in the way we want to. As I write a computer program, I see if I don't use the correct syntax, it doesn't work. Linguistic imbalance in machines though, but on the human level, acceptance is much greater.
