Light in the Storm
For much time, I've existed as a lighthouse.
On islands many I've been found!
I've been that guide, that safety, that help,
During ominous tempests, to provide assistance to solid ground.
Yet every lighthouse needs conditions met
To perform an ongoing duty, to protect and save.
To be a dependable lighthouse requires much more
Than just being bold and brave.
Lighthouses need caretakers, too,
To fortify them, to ensure their lamps ignite.
The thoughtfulness you've shown thus far
Has created a spark that fills me with light.
Maintenance for lighthouses is seldom needed.
Indeed, checking-in isn't needed very often.
I do cherish the times it's made clear I've been thought of, though;
The validations that I have not been forgotten.
Care for me certainly is there, and it's lovely!
It's a type I'm not used to, yet despite this, don't find myself pining.
It's a kind so sincere, consistent, reassuring and steadfast
That has helped this lighthouse to keep standing here, shining!
