You stole glances at me,
An unfathomable look in your eyes;
I met your gaze from time to time,
A question written in my expression.
Perhaps you wanted to say something,
Perhaps I thought you were going to,
Perhaps it never crossed your mind,
That I wished you would.
You walked along beside me,
Like a shadow, silent and falling back;
I turned and saw the look on your face,
An image I wished I could erase.
Perhaps you didn't want to be here,
Perhaps I never should have asked you to come,
Perhaps I, myself, will never know why,
I wanted you by my side.
You, again, looked at me,
But this time you saw me breaking;
I hid my face saying that I was fine,
A frown, you put my cold hands in your pocket.
Perhaps you thought it was a simple gesture,
Perhaps I should have known better,
Perhaps the warmth shouldn't touch my heart,
But in the end, it still did.
-"When we said goodbye, I should've known that your scent and your touch would linger in my mind and sadden me even more"
