Day in and day out,
I walk past you,
Not rushing past in an effort to forget you,
But gently and hesitantly,
Somewhere a glance, somewhere a touch
And here and there a gentle caress,
Looking for something and anything,
To remind you of me.
But you just gaze at me in mute stupor,
With a very appropriate smile,
Polite, but meant to keep me at a distance,
Never taking a step towards me.
Yet another day passes by,
As you fail to recognize me.
It seems as if an era has passed,
Since I lost you to amnesia,
Yet, it seems as if another will pass,
Before I can accept the fact
That you've moved on.
