  Against the Rains of Rome, Under the Drizzles of Time.
  
  Sirimiri.
  I love the sound of it.
  Like a lover I lost in the crowds of a bookstore
  And I found her again
  Years later in old Roman towns
  Dancing in the rain
  Drenched in petrichor
  Her bright pastel shades
  And that smile of hers
  Beckoning forth a new spring.
  
  I would imagine myself to walk up to her
  And wait. Watching as she finishes until she's exhausted.
  And I'd hold her hand and tell her
  How years, tears later, I found her.
  And she'd smile and we'd have conversations
  About sweet nothings.
  With significant things thrown in
  Like garnish.
  
  Like how I am a married man now.
  I don't get to dance in the rain anymore
  And I don't have time for it either.
  I can only ever walk under the sultry summer sun
  And set evermore weakened at the end of days.
  Or how she's started traveling nowadays
  Avoiding the summers and leaving places for deserts.
  She talks about all the countries she's been to
  And all the things she's reigned upon.
  Her love for European roofs and American idiots.
  
  She looked at my sad demeanor
  And touched my skin. Glazed her fingers through
  My parched forgotten skin.
  Like light drizzle. Like fine drizzle.
  Sirimiri.
  And I wished to die then.
  Because I would never be that happy again.
  And the surge of sorrow welled up in my eyes
  But I resisted the urge to cry.
  Lest I spoil her gentle composure.
  Lest my tears fall bold and heavy
  Against her soft lingering songs

  I keep my windows shut and lights off
  Far and deep into the evening.

  I don't turn on the lights until I have to.
  Because this is my space- my void- my territory-
  And I like it dark and little cold.
  
  And I lay under all things white.
  In winters I'm under white blankets
  And when I'm crying I'm under a white bedsheet.
  White protects me.
  Like they do for the dead in all the religions.
  I want to be dead.
