WAVES AND ME
The waves pool around my feet
A cold sensation engulfing me
Gives me peace and rest and quiet
For which I've been yearning for days
I look down in the blue water
To see a girl staring back
A girl I don't know anymore
A girl I wish my parents never had
she's smiling 'cause the blue makes her happy
But even in her happiness, the smile doesn't reach her eyes
Her eyes are sad and full of tears
And they tell the story of what she supposedly left behind
Within seconds the blue on the ground recedes
Leaves her alone like she deserves to be
Tears fall from her eyes
As she says goodbye and steps back to leave
Suddenly the cold sensation again
Tapping against her foot saying, "Wait!"
"I'm not leaving you or am going to let you leave
'Cause you're a part of me."
The solace it provides makes her wonder
What brings the wave back?
It can leave once and for all
Why the trouble at all?
But the wave never gives up
The circumstances make her recede
But it doesn't give up and comes back to see the day
Comes and plays around the children and their feet
Nurtures the sandcastles with the seashells
Found on its journey
But then it leaves again
For it has obstacles to overcome
But keeps going back till it's a spot in the distance
"You are a part of me", the words ring in your ears
And you realise that the wave and you aren't so different
For it nurtured everyone but itself,
and she loved everyone despite her own
For now, a tsunami approaches and she stands tall and screams
And finally lets it all go
And as the water engulfs her, she gets her release.
