Happy International Nurses Week 2020
I take shit! Yes I take shit from you and you. I get vomited on, yelled at, assaulted and blamed for someone else not doing their job.
I have cried with and for you, I have prayed with and for you, I have smiled with and for you. I have ditched my off to stay around to encourage you. I have fought and advocated for you. I have cared for you at the expense of my health, family and love life. I don't just give injections because any one can. Remember, that man with Diabetes next door, he takes his insulin injections himself. I do more than that. What I do are the little things that matters, the little that counts for much. I take shit! Yes I do. To make you comfortable, I take shit! To see you go home, I take shit!
"I am a Nurse. I am not a Nurse because I take shit, I take shit because I am a Nurse"
I am a professional just as you are. I could have been an Economist or a lawyer or an Engineer but I am what I am, A Nurse. I'm not a Doctor and do not wish to be, not because I don't have what it takes or smarter as you always think of me but because I choose to be courageous, I choose to always be at your side. That's what Nurses do. I am not an assistant, I am a Nurse. I'm not a Nurse to get married to a Doctor, and oh if I do, it's not because I'm a Nurse but as my fundamental human right. I am not a quack, I'm a Professional.
I am your "middle man"
I am the bridge between the health world and you
You can't teach me my Job
I am a Nurse.
