    Can trust ever conquer doubt?

    Trust and Doubt

    Trust begs to be heard.
It scratches on the door of doubt to let it in.

It clings to the knots that bind us, hoping to mend the holes that once entwined us.

Trust cries at the door of doubt to let it in.

These walls are thick and strong.
And doubt never thinks it is wrong.

Trust sees itself as a victor, it must win.

But doubt will not open the lock to let it in.

Fear of being abandoned is frightening, but far worse is

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase “each other”
    doesn’t make any sense.
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
    Don’t go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
    Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill
    where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
    Don’t go back to sleep.”

    People give up.

    Not because they want to.

    They need to.

Ignoring someone does not make them miss you.

    It makes them forget you.
