Voice for the Non-Dreamers
Some people know exactly what they want to do in life. They dream about it and work for it. But there is this group who have no specific answer on what they foresee or dream to achieve in life. They are not failures; they do not deserve disrespect. For many, the financial situation is what decides on their career and in that course, dreams are kept away, sometimes a little too longer that it fades off from memory as if it just vaporized. Certain others are still in the hunt of realizing or identifying their dream. One may be money minded, the other maybe not. But we are living in a world where the latter is incited with the guilt of not thinking of the monetary benefits. It is indeed a strange world for all, even more strange for the ones who don't have an answer for what they dream to achieve.
It is unfortunate that the world is dominated by the factors that aids to unsee yourself rather than to identify with the self. The rich, their privileges, money and benefits of possessing a lot of it, fame etc. are some of the major contributors to this. When a human is born, he is free to think. Then comes the invasion. Invasion by social circumstances, imposed dreams of the caretakers, ‘going with the flow’ slogan holders, religion, success stories of champions and winners, so much that it is hard for an ordinary person to identify his/her passion or dream that is uninfluenced by prosperity of its outcome.
I am happy for the lot who have a dream. Given this question I would probably panic and then say ‘I wish to achieve so and so’ just to avoid inviting pity and I know I am not the only one.
I voice for them. I voice for that person who has not yet identified their dream or forgotten their dream. We all take time. Some, a little longer. You may be young or old but I am sure there is something that ignites your core. For that knowing oneself with independence is important. Be comfortable with the self in solitude and try to reflect on oneself. We may not have answers immediately but it is possible that we are writing answers already and once we realize the answer, work for it as no dream gets fulfilled without effort.
Life only knows to happen. Dreams have to be made to happen. They may not necessarily bring you fame or money, but satisfaction and inner peace and I am sure if that is achieved, it can be spread. That in itself is the best contribution to humanity.
Independence is what is to be fed to the thoughts of everyone. This will automatically invite freedom and freedom gives space for trials and errors. More aptly, comprehensible errors which in itself brings choices.
As Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen quotes: “Human development, as an approach, is concerned with what I take to be the basic development idea; namely advancing the richness of human life, rather than the richness of the economy in which human beings live, which is only a part of it”. He also quoted “Poverty is not lack of money; it is not having the capability to realize one's own full potential as a human being”.
To reach the full potential we need to channelize the ways for freedom and independence for each other with patience. If only we lived in a world where dreams are not measured in any scale other than satisfaction and peace.
