    The fence

Rhythms of my heart in sync with the beats of hope and fear.
For I am neither there nor here, hanging by a thread, stranded on the fence.

    Tears

And so I'll keep this jar of tears underneath my bed, for I dare not be vulnerable in the eyes of this unforgiving world.

    Rain ☔

Silver horizontal ropes strike earth and raises smoke like gunpowder.
It sends shivers running down my spine and I get cold feet.
I stand under my little purple umbrella and watch people scurry to shelter.
Their shoes splashing away and the sound of tires as they glide smoothly along the shiny wet road.

And suddenly I'm reminded of home.
Mother's hot cocoa on rainy days and father's tales of adventure and love.

The memory causes my face to pull up into a toothy grin.
And in this spine chilling weather, I find myself feeling warm inside.

    Together

What storm oh my love couldn't we weather together?
For once upon a time I would cave into myself, seeking solace within.
But With you there are only reasons to soar, walk through hell holding hands.

What pain oh my love couldn't we bear together?
For once upon a time I prayed for death, unaware of cupids intentions.
With you there are only reasons to breathe, live.

And maybe one day when we are old and gray and Love's promises fail, this feeling would I remember, of storms we weathered together.
