    For so long I cowered
    In guilt and rage
    Seeking forgiveness and strength
From every pair of eyes in vain.

    Misplaced trust,
    And love unrequited
    Treasures from life
    Unasked, yet showered.

    Then walked in you,
    With promises of forever
    Like the ones before you,
    Yet nothing quite like them.

    For so long, I yearned,
    For someone like you.
    A candle in the dark,
    My wish upon the stars.

    But what would convince
    A heart, deceived,
    For times many to count.
    Forgotten nor forgiven,
    Still beating stronger than ever.
