The Winter Palm

I do not know what force is that which dwells within her eyes nor why I am so ill at ease in my spirit while I bear her voice
but I do remember how she whispered in my right ear and put to silence my beating heart kept in rival's palms,
I remember how she consumed all of my soul in the love she wrought in the fires of my lust and hope then withdrew,
as if a tide from the shore.
