He said he would run with me,
If running proved he wouldn't leave.
And when I get tired,
We could pause,
He would offer a shoulder to cry on.
Is he real?
I feel as though this is just a daydream.
Maybe he's a figment of my imagination,
Something stemming from my desolation.
But no, he's here running.
My thoughts spin out of control,
Can any man really keep up?
Would any man really want to?
He says he knows
That he can't.
Says that his goals
Are only to keep me from falling apart,
To show me that he really cares,
That he just wants to be there,
And, maybe one day, alongside me.
