    Purity, my long lost friend

I look at children with a small pocket
of envy carried around like a
book full of things no one wants
    to remember.
    The laughter
    is what lingers.

    My heart misses this innocence.
    Of her,
    of him.
    It was a brilliant time
    back then.

like a brown sugary treat, &
    the taste of ignorance
    on my lips still
    has me
    clinging to purity.

I know we've all lost it,
    this innocence
    when someone
    or something
    robs us of this kindness.

    Our vulnerable minds
    become a tainted
    of a time
    where innocence,

    is the true definition
    of bliss.
