How I Hug
Our hugs are often silent
Expressing feeling that words mangle.
With heart and soul in alignment,
Avoiding clumsy emotional tangle.
This hug is joyful,
This hug is sorry,
This hug says hello,
This hug has to let go,
This hug is playful,
This hug wants more,
This hug is for a child,
This hug is for a stranger,
Braving the threat of danger,
That hug was for one night only,
This hug is for a pup, and this one for a kitten,
This hug is for elation,
This hug is for creation,
This hug is for my mother,
This hug goes to my sister - flying on wings to heaven,
This hug is til death do us part,
This hug is for myself,
Because without this hug,
How can I truly hug anyone else?
It’s time to lay down and sleep,
Let’s spoon under the full moon.
We lay knotted with out a peep,
Praying morning won’t come so soon.
