    Skipping Stones

    I coast through life alone.
    Hop place to place unseen.
Never anywhere too long in case I drown.
Like a bumpy rock sinking in the water.
I feared being close to others.
    My edges were too sharp.
    And this was my demise.
    I feared being known.

    Now I know my people.
    My found family and happiness.
And they will travel beside me.
I open myself to them unafraid.
    Never to be alone again.
    They smoothed my sharp edges..
And they won't let me drown.
    For we are skipping stone.
