Whom do you want me to call A family?
The aunt who Laughed following my mother's death?
Or the lecherous Uncle who tried to touch my bra strap?
I don't think Family seems anything like that!
Blood relations are not everything, Let me remind you that.
When I was born I saw the frowns on the faces of my relatives.
"It's a girl " they said, with traces of disdain on their faces
    Time have changed and
By now, i have grew up, learnt what's good whats bad,
My mother taught me the etiquettes to survive in our so called patriarchal society,
Where girls have to smuggle pads to the bathrooms through the school corridors like some sort of drugs,
I saw so many! So many Girls being teased by the Boys of our class, while they were on their periods
As if it was some sort of crime, to bleed for the formation of our future mankind!
I was told not to speak while the adults were discussing, i was taught to Bear pain with a grin.
Days I have faced when I was the centre of witty remarks,
And interestingly, most of them were exerted by my So called relatives.
just because I excelled in being a Demure young girl, they treated me indifferently.
That day! That day I realised Some of the most poisonous people come disguised as relatives.
And the morning newspaper that came with a contoured headline
"3 yr old girl raped by maternal uncle in outer Delhi"
Was no longer egregious for me,
Because afterall this is a patriarchal society where Males and olders have ruled by means of enormities
Here, Everthing comes with a price, specially for the Female mankind.

Whom do you want me to call a family?
The uncle one who looks at me in an ogle manner
Or the aunt who threatens and cut off my solicited outcries
    Saying so lightly,
That I am trying to gain sympathy?
