    "I CAN'T BREATHE"

I saw him die at a crossroad in Minneapolis. I saw him struggling to breathe as the men in uniform strangled him. I saw his nose bleed, yearning for help. I saw him losing consciousness. I saw him die. I saw a 10 minute long video, in which a man died a slow and painful death. As the video ended, so did my painful trance.
I remind myself. I am in 21st century. This ain't happening.
That's when he came closer to me gasped and whispered, "I can't breathe."
    .

    George Floyd
    Breonna Taylor
    Ahmaud Arbery
    Eric Garner
    Mike Brown
    and the list never ends.
We are done being quietly non-racist, it's time now to be vocally anti- racist.
Times like these, truly and completely expose the so - called democracy, be it US, be it India, be it Israel. Today, you might be quiet, you still might be quiet, but tomorrow you could be the next. Whom you are backing up now, won't stand in solidarity with you, when tomorrow your body or maybe your soul die a slow death.

"I can't breathe in here" - it suffocates me when I am reminded that 21st century has long been just a mask, just a façade, hiding behind which is a long era of barbarism, inhumanity, apartheid, casteism, era which had glorified a race, and stigmatized the other. It suffocates me when I realise we had been walking since long yet we stand here in the same old place, our mind sinking in prejudices
    our soul sinking in orthodoxies.
our hand, desperately cleaning the blood on it.
    I can't breathe.
