The Stigma Against Tears
I don't understand that when a person is crying why do we get so desperate to make them stop crying immediately?? As if something catastrophic will happen if that person is allowed to cry.
Do we do the same when a person is happy and cheerful?? We don't, right? Because we know that it is an emotion that needs an outlet.
But then the moment a person cries, we want that person to stop immediately! Is it because of our own inability to handle the distress in others??
