    The Demons Inside

    She stood there
    In silence and fear,
    For demons inside
    Had driven her here.

    They'd cut out her heart
    Straight from the chest,
    Making her accept
    That the demons knew best.

    They'd always been there,
    Just out of sight,
    Waiting in the backcloth,
    Till the time was right.

    The demons were ruinous,
    Knocking down her life,
    Hating everything about her;
    She hated herself, too.

She stood there on the bridge,
About to wind up the fight.
    Then she stopped and thought
I'll fight them one more night.
