    An eerie silence fell
in the midst of the entropy
    the screaming wind
    and rain so violent
    it was as though
    the planet was
    tilting sideways
    coming to an abrupt halt
    that left a void
    in the cacophony
    the onimous sky
    splitting open to reveal
    a perfect blue
    an over-ambitious rainbow
    its upside down smile
    lulling us into
    a false sense of security
    that the storm
    had passed over,
    but little did we know
    as we took reprieve
    from the battering ram
    retreating to our corners
    to lick our wounds
    that we were simply
in the eye of the storm
    calm and tranquil
    and the hurricane
    was nowhere near over
    or that our home
    once solid
    would be shaken
    to its very foundations.
